UNKNOWN CENTRAL AMERICA
In a vintage vehicle from the USA to Colombia
Thomas Rahn & Sabine Hoppe
Thursday 29.07.2021, 12 pm & 3 pm (about 90 min)
With their classic truck 'Paula', converted into an expedition vehicle, Sabine Hoppe and Thomas Rahn have circled the globe in six years. In their live commented photo report “Unknown Central America” they report on the third section of the world circumnavigation from the south of the United States to the remote north of Colombia.
Atmospheric photographs and personal stories take the audience into the mystical realms of the Maya and Aztecs, to snakes and crocodiles in the cloud forest and to active volcanoes of the Pacific Fire Belt.
A diverse part of the world - from the rough Pacific Ocean to the turquoise Caribbean, from the deserts of Arizona through the tropical lowlands to the northern border of the Andes.
In Mexico, Aztec dancers celebrate the equinox as splendidly feathered mythical creatures at the "Birthplace of the Gods". Descendants of the Mayas bring ancient ceremonies back to life in the shadow of pyramids that are thousands of years old.
The remote mountain regions of Guatemala, smoking volcanoes in Nicaragua, a rich fauna in the lush green of the tropical cloud forests of Costa Rica, a lively Panama, the island worlds of the Caribbean and northern Colombia are waiting to be admired.
